How to: Create Transparent Windows Forms

Many applications uses transparent background form like Adobe products. "What if my applications should look like the same as this applications" So I try to find how it works.

After several hours searching in the internet I found different ways to create transparent windows form. Different approach and explanations, some says transparency is not supported by visual studio and others put codes that doesn't work.

I found some replies in different forums, I combined all the ideas and found out that it works. Here is the code for transparency of your window background.

Definitions for common tools used when planning a project.

Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart is a popular bar chart that aims to show the timing of tasks or activities as they occur across time. Although the Gantt chart did not initially indicate the relationships between activities, this has become more common in current use as both timing and interdependencies between tasks can be identified.

Since the initial introduction of Gantt charts, they have become an industry standard and a key project management tool for representing the phases, tasks and activities that are scheduled as part of a project Work Breakdown Structure or timeline of activities.

PERT Chart

The Programme Evaluation and Review Technique commonly abbreviated PERT is a model for project management invented by United States Department of Defense's US Navy Special Projects Office in 1958 as part of the Polaris mobile submarine launched ballistic missile project.

PERT is basically a method for analysing the tasks involved in completing a given project, especially the time needed to complete each task and identifying the minimum time needed to complete the total project.

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is an exhaustive, hierarchical tree structure of deliverables and tasks that need to be performed to complete a project. Work breakdown structure is a very common project management tool and the basis for much project planning.

Product Breakdown Structure (PBS)

In project management, a Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) is an exhaustive, hierarchical tree structure of components that make up a project deliverable, arranged in whole-part relationship.

A PBS can help clarify what is to be delivered by the project and can help build a work breakdown structure.

The PRINCE2 project management method mandates the use of product based planning, part of which is developing a product breakdown structure.

Logic Network

A Logic Network shows the sequence of activities in a project across time. It shows which activity logically precedes or follows another activity. It can be used to identify the milestones and critical path of a project.

S Curve

The S Curve is a well known project management tool and it consists in "a display of cumulative costs, labour hours or other quantities plotted against time".The name derives from the S-like shape of the curve, flatter at the beginning and end and steeper in the middle, because this is the way most of the projects look like.

The S curve can be considered as an indicator and it's used for many applications related to project management such as: target, baseline, cost, time etc. That's why there is a variety of S Curves such as:
-Cost versus Time S Curve;(appropriate for projects that contain labour and non-labour tasks).
-Target S Curve;(This S Curve reflects the ideal progress of the project if all tasks are completed as currently scheduled)
-Value and Percentage S Curves;(Percentage S Curves are useful for calculating the project's actual percentage complete)
-Actual S Curve;(This S Curve reflects the actual progress of the project to date)

Hiring employees in virtual company is somehow complicated because there is a question often asked that "How do you know your staff is really working if you can't see them?". The best way to guard against wasted time is to be certain you are hiring a staff that knows how to get the job done and is committed to growing the business.

COMMUNICATION

Technology allows a virtual company's employees to interact in real time. Phone, e-mail, instant messaging, Internet conferencing and telephone conferencing facilitate those typical "got a minute?" office conversations. Internet-based databases provide company-wide access to a variety of information, including customer and prospect data, employee calendars, and all relevant company documents, such as 401k materials and product marketing literature. Managers must make the time to check in with members of the team regularly to make sure they are on task.

CULTURE

Culture is not a big deal in virtual company, because everybody is dependent on each member meeting their objectives. Success or failure is shared by the whole team, so it incentivises the team to work together towards the same objective and with one insurance policy.

Chat Etiquette

What is Chat Etiquette?
Describes how you should act while chatting online, and how some people act wrongly-how to react to that. The following are some tips on of chat etiquette:

Talking in caps. This is not only annoying, but perceived as yelling. Personally, I would much rather see people typing all in lower case with frequent typos and misspellings than see them type all in caps. You wouldn’t yell things in a normal conversation, would you? And if you would, I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t really enjoy conversing with you.

Asking people for personal information, AKA A/S/L. Would you go up to a complete stranger in public and ask their precise age and where they lived? Or what their current relationship status is? I don’t know about others, but I find this to be very rude.

Spamming. Some people have trouble understanding exactly what spam is. This is quite simple really. Forcing a message on people who would not otherwise choose to receive it is spamming. When you are in public and someone shoves a flyer for a new store opening in your face it’s quite annoying. So why do it in the chat room?

Following the rules. This is one I have seen get debated quite frequently. Different channels have different rules on what is OK to talk about and what is not. The important thing to remember here is the rules are set for a specific reason. For the chat room at live.pirillo.com, these rules are set to make everyone’s chat experience more enjoyable. If you have an issue with one of the rules, keep in mind you are not the only person in the chat room. Try to look at it as if you were a guest in someone’s home. they may have rules that make no sense to you, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t respect their wishes. You can always create your own room and say whatever you desire.

Wars. We have seen it numerous times: “Mac is better!” “XP rules!” “Xbox sucks!” On and on it goes. The thing that really annoys me about this is people who never say why this sucks or that rules. Follow through with your opinion. Share your experience with the community so others may learn from it. Plus, if you think something sucks because it’s not working correctly, you might find someone who has found a solution to your problem and can help you. Try to look at it like being in a store. You ask the salesperson “is this hard drive any good?” and all he or she says is “it sucks.” It would not be very helpful, would it? Also, please don’t escalate situations - agree to disagree. If you can’t stop fighting about something with someone else just move on. Understand you have your views and so do others. Respect others’ opinions and their right to keep them, no matter how strongly you feel they might be wrong.

What is Forum Etiquette?

Forum etiquette means maintaining a standard of posting behavior that is acceptable and appropriate. Forum etiquette can be flexible, according to the subject of the forum, but there are certain standards most people expect others to maintain. Some lines must be drawn for the safety of all posting on the forum.

One of the staunchest rules of forum etiquette is not posting personal information about another poster. Even if that poster has all but drawn a map to his house, posting a real name or address is considered grounds for a permanent ISP ban on most forums. This could compromise someone's safety. This is probably the most serious breach of forum etiquette and most moderators take it very seriously.

You can disagree with someone's opinions, but calling that person an idiot or a profane name is a violation of forum etiquette. Some forums are more liberal about this than others, but keeping it civil is never the wrong thing to do. Posting the same thing over and over again is called scrolling, and is also a banning offense. It is annoying in the extreme and uses up bandwidth, which someone is paying for. It is entirely unnecessary and makes the poster look immature and childish.

Trolls are always in flagrant violation of forum etiquette and enjoy disturbing the peace at any forum where they post. Trolls tend to scroll, call names, gossip about other posters, post things that are deliberately provocative and usually that violate the forum's rules about posting. Most moderators hasten to get them banned as soon as possible, but they can sometimes do a lot of damage before this happens.

Another violation of forum etiquette is posting in ALL CAPS. This is considered shouting and is very rude, in addition to being hard on the eyes. Something may be in caps for emphasis (e.g. I did NOT want to go!), but no post should be entirely in all caps.

Flaming, or deliberate insults or personal rants, is also against forum etiquette. Flaming is often employed by people who are losing arguments on a forum. Their response is to personally insult the poster disagreeing with them, usually in a long, nasty post.

This kind of behavior is why so many forums have a list of posting rules and consequences for breaking them. Some may say this behavior is more prominent among immature teens, but that is in no way the case. Many of the worst offenders are adults who should know better. The veil of anonymity seems to bring out the worst in these people, and any bullying tendencies they have tend to become magnified in the semi-protection of an anonymous forum.

Most of the rest of forum etiquette involves using the Golden Rule: treat others as you would like to be treated. Behaving as a reasonable adult, even in the face of being flamed, is always the best course of action. If a poster becomes harassing, obscene or personal, do not retaliate. Instead, cut and paste the offensive post(s) into an e-mail and quickly report it to the moderator or forum administrator.

What is Net Etiquette?

Net Etiquette are the rules that have developed as people have begun to communicate and interact on the Internet. The following are some good net etiquette rules to follow:

Before you join in a newsgroup or discussion board, always check that your questions are relevant to the group. It is a good idea to watch the conversation (in internet jargon, this is called "lurking"), before you join in. Most groups have an FAQ , (Frequently Asked Questions) list, and if there is no standard message saying where you might find this, then you can put a question to the group/list to ask where you might be able to find an FAQ list.

Never respond to rude or threatening messages whether in chat, newsgroups or message boards.

Always leave if the conversation makes you uncomfortable.

Never engage in a flame war. That is a shouting match (through text) conducted between 2 or more people.

Never send an email in capital letters. That is considered to be shouting on the Internet.

Never say nasty or untrue things about others especially in public forums, newsgroups, or chat. These remain in many archives and you could be charged with libel.

Never forward personal emails sent to you to others without checking with the original sender first.

Similarly, when forwarding an email to others, respect the privacy of your group of friends or family. Do not publicly broadcast all their email addresses. Learn to use the BCC command which keeps email addresses private.

When composing emails, use the subject field, as it helps the recipient to identify the email quicker.

When replying to emails, particularly if they are long and detailed, it is courteous to not quote the entire message in reply, but to quote only what is necessary. This saves on bandwidth. Sometimes email threads can get very large! However there are many instances, especially in a work environment when entire emails are used in replies, and entire email discussion threads are kept. This are maintained as a record of a work discussion, and often takes the place of normal paper correspondence.

Remember that the Internet is a new medium, and email gives you quick and direct access to many people that you would not have similar access to before. People respond to using this medium in different ways. It is always courteous and considerate to reply to emails, even if it is only to say that you will give a fuller response when you have more time.

Pinoy Dream Academy is now closing, here's the opening of Pinoy BigBrother and here's the new housemates.

Isang gabi, merong dalawang makisig na lalaki ang kasama ng pitong hindi mawaring mga kababaihan ang napadaan sa bahay ni BigBrother. Tuwang-tuwa sila at nakita nila ng personal ang mga guardia ng bahay ni BigBrother, na noon ay nakikita lang nila sa T.V. kaya sila'y di nagpatumpik-tumpik sa pagpapalitrato.

Ang karanasang ito ay hindi nila makakalimutan, lalo na't ang iba nilang kasama ay di napasama sa Litrato. Hahaha! Kasi naman kain ng kain ng marami kaya uwian kaagad. Tulo'y siyam na mapapalad lang ang nabiyayaan ng litrato. Maswerte ang syam na ito at naPOST pa sila dito.

O sige, hanggang dito nalang. Marami pong salamat sa pagbabasa. Nawa kayo'y napaligaya.

I made this Flier during our laboratory exercise in Desktop Publishing. The graphic editing application we used is Photoshop CS2.

Tuwing Mayo taun-taon ginaganap ang Mayohan sa Tayabas at isa ang Mutya ng Tayabas sa palabas. Maraming mga nagagandahang mga dalaga ang kasali rito at sila "nasa larawan" ang ilan sa mga ito.

Nitong taon 2008 ay nasaksihan ko ang masayang Mayohan ng mga Tayabasin, marami silang palabas gaya ng Parada ng mga Baliskog at mga Higantes, Hagisan ng Suman, Lambanog Night, at marami pang iba.

I made this brochure for my laboratory exercise in Desktop Publishing. It is a brochure of my chosen business, an Internet cafe with Photo and Video coverage. It offers different services like Internet Surfing, Gaming, Chat, Computer repair, Photo and Video Coverage, and many more.

I used Adobe Photoshop CS3 for the layout and design. About the concept, hmmm... It comes from my head, I really don't know. For me, that's great.

Sid's Journey Beyond Mystery - A 3-Dimensional Adventure Game

Almost 5 months reading the torque scripting, now we are rushing ourselves to finish at least 50% of our thesis. This thesis is very difficult in a first place because we are noob at the same time we started learning from nothing.

Difficult but exciting, this is our dream as a team to build a game even it is simple. Here's some screen shoots:

In this screen shoot I used built-in character, the environment actually is the one i did here. I called it the "Forest of Trials". Sounds good right? Yah! pretty awesome. Sooner I will post here the latest improvement of our thesis. Good day!
